Mackenzie and Greg reached out last spring for me to photograph their wedding and I couldn’t be more excited. Their love for each other and the fun they has together exuded in their engagement session.
Here is a glimpse into Mackenzie and Greg’s world. They met in college through mutual friends, they dated for three years and then got engaged in the early summer and have their wedding planned for June 2021. They were co-youth directors at their church and one night as they were setting up for youth group, Greg mentioned that he wanted to go to Monterey Bay Aquarium sometime, pretty casual and nonchalant. Mackenzie loved the idea and was ready to get this date on the calendar and plan it out!!
When they went on their day trip to the aquarium and Greg’s sisters went along as well. On their way Greg asked everyone what their favorite parts of the aquarium were, but really, he was fishing for Mackenzie’s answer as he had plans, that she had no idea about (pretty smooth if you ask me!). So, after a while of exploring the aquarium and walking around they got to the glass tunnel…Mackenzie’s favorite part. He said he was waiting for the people in the tunnel to clear out before they went through, but Mackenzie just couldn’t wait. She took Greg into the tunnel he reached to get the ring from his sister and then dropped down on one knee in the middle of the tunnel!! Mackenzie was shocked and was shocked that she was shocked, not too many people can pull a surprise on her. She had been hoping for an engagement for a while but had put it out of her mind when thought Greg wasn’t ready.
One of the best parts was that Mackenzie had sent him a picture of her favorite ring and he had a ring custom made to exactly match the picture. Also, he had the ring for six months before he proposed!
I had asked them to both share their favorite memory together and they both came up with the same answer!
“Our favorite memories together are whenever we go on long drives or do anything else that requires us to be extra intentional with each other. Long car rides are our favorite because we don’t have any outside distractions and are able to focus on each other. We always have the best conversations and the best laughs during these times and are able to learn even more about each other and grow closer as a couple. We aren’t just having conversations about our days or what we have been up to but talk about what is important to us in our hearts and how we want to live our lives with each other and in Christ. Whenever we get back from a long car ride, we have a stronger bond with one another which still grows after 4 years together.” -Mackenzie + Greg
